One project this Fall? What can we do to help teen drivers look out for pedestrians? Because....well...they're teen drivers. 🙂

June has been an eventful month for Safe Routes.  We’ve formed our volunteer groups for several projects next fall and winter AND started the process for our major infrastructure work.  As always, there is good news and bad news.  Projects this Fall include safety assemblies at both CFIS and CFMS, professional bike safety training class on an early release day at the intermediate school, and a new effort to improve snow removal on our sidewalks along the school walking routes.  We’ve also got the crossing guard program in the works.  (Look for ads for volunteer guards soon in local papers!)  So, that’s the good news.  The bad news?  We are learning how quickly projects can get slowed by necessary regulation and paperwork.  Government projects do not move quickly!

If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to have you.  Email us at saferouteschagrin@yahoo.com to find out what project groups are meeting this month.  Next public meeting:  July 13th, 7 PM at the Chagrin Falls public library.
