CFIS Parking Lot
The image shows the location of the proposed pedestrian sidewalk through the intermediate school parking lot. In the past, students were instructed to walk this pathway but no true pathway existed. The proposed sidewalk represented by yellow thick line was downgraded to a painted walking lane as a cost saving measure. On each end, there is now a crosswalk (represented by red markings) for children to cross the bus lane. A second crosswalk (represented by lime green line) was painted on the path that students take to leave the fourth grade hallways and walk to the bus area. Additionally, a new “indestructable” fence (marked in pink) was added to the back lot of the school. The old fence had been subjected to repeated vandalism to provide access to the Giant Eagle lot below. The new fence will be more resistant to these acts. This work was completed during the summer recess of 2011.
Plans to remove the steps that lead from the Falls Travel parking lot (marked in blue) to the Giant Eagle parking lot are still being discussed; we hope to achieve further cost savings in our projects with a creative solution to stop the unsafe student activity that occurs in this secluded area.
